(Kobo Libra H2O) We consider a lower weight better because lighter devices are more comfortable to carry. I was really bummed to read this because I love supporting indie authors.Īnother con is while this ereader does work with netgalley, it is a few extra steps. Have only had this device for a week, but I think it is great. Why we picked the Kobo Libra H2O: Amazon may dominate the space, but its definitely not the only game in town. If an author uses amazon to self publish they sign a contract where the ebook is only able to be on their platform. At a sunny holiday destination, you wont be bothered by. If you want to read self published books, chances are you will not be able to get them on kobo. Thanks to the ergonomic design, you can comfortably hold the e-reader for a longer period of time. But, having that ability is great in my option. You do need to buy the book first and then get a refund though. Lastly, if you do like finding ebook deals kobo has them as well as other ebook dealers, but they also have Price Match where you can submit to have a refund of the difference plus 10% of the competitors price at the time of writing this. I really love how easily this works with my library. This change brings it to parity with the Kindle page navigation on single-page preview, though the Kindle also offers a 3 by 3 grid view, so you can see a bunch of pages at a glance at once.Picture of eReader and pillow on chair that says “If you were in my novel I would have killed you off by now”. Kobo's also added a new "scrubber" mode for skimming throughout the entire book - formerly, it just let you preview or jump to other pages in the chapter you're in. The Kobo home screen also feels more relaxed and welcoming, with a smaller, more-minimalist menu bar at the top.īoth Kobo and Kindle interfaces have a lot of similarities, though, as you tap the top right corner of a page to add a bookmark (though Amazon makes you tap a second time to confirm). And as I read Loving Day, I also noticed that Kobo doesn't show you passages that other people underlined, a feature that I wish Amazon would disable by default (yes, you can turn it off yourself, but nobody wants to fiddle with the settings section of an e-reader).Įven better, Kobo doesn't pollute your home screen with ads, like Amazon is wont to do.
