![]() Seokmin has big dreams for them like coordinating outfits and making sure everyone would associate them with each other, Chan seems adamant on going to Seokmin's theatre rehearsals and Jihoon's music club meetings in person to see more of how cool his brothers are, and Jihoon thinks it would be nice to eat lunch with both of them in the cafeteria and talk about how their school day's going. They'd spent the entire holiday buzzing about it. "I can't wait for you to be in my school!" Seokmin cried and Chan patted his back, grinning when he saw Jihoon steal a bite of Seokmin's ice-cream while he wasn't looking. Who wouldn't wanna chat with you, hyung?" Chan said, and Seokmin suddenly looked close to tears as he wrapped his arms around Chan tight. "Every single teacher said in my school report last year that I chat too 's not like I'm trying to be rude." "The teachers would love Seokmin if he wasn't so damn loud." "They do not like me because I'm cute," Jihoon deadpanned, scrunching up his face when Seokmin poked his cheeks and Chan snickered. "Chan, the teachers adore hyung, you know? He's a music prodigy and he has good grades and he's polite and he's cute!" "But we won't be because you and your perfect reputation will save us, hyungie," Seokmin insisted, hugging Jihoon's arm. "Skip class together and go on adventures." ![]() "Imagine all the things we could do together," Seokmin said dreamily, strawberry sauce threatening to drip over his fingers. Jihoon still ended up buying them all ice-cream from the van near their street and they sat on the scorching pavement together, huddling even though it was too warm for it so they wouldn't take up too much space. ![]() "Guys, let's get out of here and get some ice-cream to celebrate this new breakthrough!"Ĭhan beamed, and Jihoon tried to say in vain, "But they have ice-cream here," even as Seokmin dragged them both out. Seokmin grabbed one of each of their hands now. "You mean consecutive?" Jihoon asked him in slight horror. "But that really would be cool because then right now we'd be 15,16,17 and isn't that like.uh.what's it called.those conjunctivitis number things in maths!" Chan, you could've been one year older."Ĭhan threw a discarded fry at Jihoon who dodged it with a snort, but then Chan seemed to fall deep in thought. It's never happened before," Jihoon said. At the same time."Ĭhan's eyes widened, and so did Jihoon's as they looked at each other. We're all gonna be in the same school this year. "Listen, you might not think it's as cool as I do but.hey. "Guys, that's not what I meant!" Seokmin whined. "I'm almost old enough to buy lottery tickets," Chan said proudly, but Jihoon shook his head. "What is it?" Chan asked, leaning in, and Seokmin grabbed his hands excitedly. Just the other day he was bursting into Jihoon's room holding up a horribly neon-green shirt and yelling, "Hyung, I just realised that T-shirts are called T-shirts because they're shaped like a T!" He's used to this - Seokmin has epiphanies like every few minutes. "You know what I just realised?"Ĭhan looked just as enthralled as Seokmin. "Guys," Seokmin breathed, eyes sparkling as he looked between Chan and Jihoon. There was one point during the summer holidays when they were all eating lunch at a burger joint after Jihoon's local baseball team had a match, and Seokmin suddenly gasped so loud that it made Chan splay his fries everywhere and far too many people stared at them. He's too lazy to even chase after them when they fall over each other giggling and run out, and besides - he gets why they're excited. "What time is it?" he asks eventually, voice scratchy, and Seokmin makes a triumphant noise at the fact that Jihoon spoke first while Chan chirps, "Seven!!" That's even worse than them making a racket. ![]() Jihoon huffs quietly and closes his eye again. So it's not real sunshine that wakes Jihoon up today, but definitely something bright enough to rival it when he cracks an eye open to see his little brothers grinning down at him, messy-haired and sleepy-eyed themselves but their smiles are shining like.well. Something like quiet familiar giggles and a loud whisper of 'are we just gonna sit here?'. Something like more weight than usual on his bed either side of him. Because it's autumn right now, the sun's faint anyway but definitely not coming in through the drawn curtains, but Jihoon still gets stirred by something this morning. Lee Jihoon, newly-appointed high school senior and eldest of three, makes sure to never leave his curtains open after one horrible time that he was woken up hours too early on a too-hot Saturday morning because of the sunshine streaming in and burning through his eyelids. ![]()
